Beyond the case
Who is this person?
Jamie understands spaces through use. He knows the route equipment actually takes, the sound a failing relay makes and the difference between a plan of a room and the room itself. His hearing aids are ordinary tools in his life - visible, practical and never the source of a mystery.
People call him when infrastructure fails, which can make usefulness feel like his entire identity. He wants to create his own music events and be paid for knowledge, not for permanent availability. Helping comes naturally; admitting that he needs help does not.
A moment outside the case
Helping without disappearing
Being useful is not the same as owing everyone unlimited access to your time. Needing support does not make you less capable.
Three turning points
What shaped them?
- 01
Being called when things break
Repeated emergencies taught Jamie how much knowledge hides behind work described as “just fixing it”.
- 02
Making access visible
He treats hearing aids and accessible communication as ordinary parts of planning, not exceptional requests.
- 03
Wanting his own stage
Music events represent a future where he creates the system instead of only rescuing somebody else’s.
A theme worth talking about

Being useful is not the same as owing everyone unlimited access to your time. Needing support does not make you less capable.
